As the Lead Data Scientist for Innovation Lab, you will manage a dynamic team of data scientists and inspire a culture of experimentation, creativity, and learning. Your leadership will drive innovation and align AI strategies with Guardian’s business objectives, focusing on generating actionable insights and value from our data.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy:
Provide strategic direction for the DSL, driving innovation and aligning with Guardian's digital transformation goals. Mentor a high-performing team and communicate progress to executive stakeholders. Innovation & Research:
Stay ahead of industry trends and collaborate with academic partners to explore advanced AI/ML capabilities, introducing these innovations to enhance Guardian’s offerings. AI/ML Development:
Lead experimentation to validate the impact of data science techniques, applying advanced methods like Deep Learning and Generative AI to improve underwriting, claims processing, and customer service. Operational Excellence:
Establish governance and efficient processes for AI/ML development, making recommendations for cutting-edge tools to enhance data science workflows. Collaboration & Integration:
Work cross-functionally with business leaders and data professionals to translate challenges into AI-driven solutions and contribute to data science standards across the enterprise. You Are:
A passionate leader excited about cutting-edge technology, adaptable to new AI/ML methodologies, and skilled in managing teams to tackle complex challenges. You Have: PhD with 6+ years, Master’s with 8+ years, or Bachelor’s with 10+ years in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields. 7+ years hands-on experience in ML modeling and development, especially with LLMs and NLP. Strong programming proficiency in Python, PyTorch, and/or TensorFlow. Proven leadership experience in guiding data science teams and collaborating with diverse cross-functional groups. Location: This position will require you to be in a Guardian office in New York, NY, Holmdel, NJ, Boston, MA, Stamford, CT, Pittsfield, MA, or Bethlehem, PA three days a week. The salary range for this role is $148,940.00 - $244,685.00, depending on education, experience, and skills. Additional yearly incentives may apply.
