Position Overview:
The Pre-Construction Manager
plays a pivotal role in managing the transition of solar projects from initial concept to construction readiness. This position requires a dynamic individual capable of overseeing multiple projects, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget alignment, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes. Key Responsibilities: Manages scope, schedule, and budgets for multiple projects from LOI signing to closeout. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all projects in pre-construction pipeline. Coordinates site surveys and verifies electrical infrastructure. Facilitates onsite meetings with clients and installation partners. Develops project schedules, contracts, and specifications to meet customer needs and compliance standards. Issues purchase orders, negotiates vendor pricing, and reviews invoices. Schedules subcontractors and coordinates materials, inspections, and equipment. Provides weekly updates to investors, ensures milestone documentation, and maintains positive relationships to drive project timelines. Manages closeout documentation to meet funding requirements. Coordinates interconnection upgrades and work with utilities to schedule necessary infrastructure changes. Generates and manage RFIs, ASIs, and submittals. Collaborates with developers to secure underwriting documents and approvals. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) preferred. Ability to travel (up to 5%). Access to company vehicle fleet. Minimum 3 years of experience in project management or pre-construction, preferably in the solar or renewable energy industry. In-depth knowledge of utility interconnection processes, permitting, and commercial solar project requirements. Proficient in project management tools (e.g., MS Project) and solar-specific design software (e.g., AutoCAD, PVsyst). Exceptional organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under tight deadlines. Experience negotiating contracts, vendor pricing, and managing project budgets. Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations affecting commercial solar installations.
