IMCis currently hiring a
Physician Practice Licensed Practical Nurse [(LPN) or Medical Assistant , who under the general supervision of the PhysicianPractice Manager and with the authority of the Chief Nursing Officer,the LPN or Medical Assistant renders safe clinical care topatients. The LPN or Medical Assistant supervises, directs, andmonitors the clinical care assigned to her / him. The LPN orMedical Assistant administers medications, vaccines and performsrelated duties. The LPN or Medical Assistant must demonstratethe knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical,psycho/social, education, safety and related criteria for the pediatric,adolescent, adult, and geriatric population.
EDUCATION:
High School diploma Graduate of state approved LPN school or MA diploma LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:
Current license as LPN in state of Louisiana or Certified Medical Assistant CPR TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
Previous experience preferred, but not required Ability to communicate effectively Ability to interact courteously and tactfully with patients, Physicians, staff, management, volunteers and contract employees. Ability to triage patients, perform CLIA waved tests, administer vaccinations and injections under supervision of a Physician. JOBKNOWLEDGE:
Basic knowledge of the nursing process and nursing principles. Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Thorough knowledge of nursing procedures. PRINCIPLETASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrates respect for patients andfamilies. Maintains and protects confidentialityregarding all aspects of patient care. Applies the clinical process to each patientand implements clinical actions. Knowledge and the ability to set up and assistwith all surgical/diagnostic/treating procedures in the office. Assisting with doing messages daily. Triaging and assisting patients during clinichours. Scheduling diagnostic testing (CT, U/S, MRI,etc). Doing precertification for tests if needed. Call patients to notify them of date, time,location, and any special instruction pertaining to test. Making sure orders and precertification's arefaxed to the appropriate site. Assisting with patient call back when newsample medication has been started. Assisting with stocking rooms and making surethat all supplies are in the rooms to complete daily tasks. Assisting with giving an up to date list tofront office staff on supply order in a timely manner (approx.. every 3rdweek of the month, to keep monthly costs down and less likely to run out ofsupplies this way). Knowledge of how to properly sterile, packageand label surgical instruments. Knowledge and assisting with how to ordermedication from the pharmacy. Assisting with medication refills (faxedrefills, CareTracker refills or patients phone calls). Entering accurate quality measures in EMR. Phlebotomy. Assisting with other clerical duties but notlimited to; answering phones, scheduling appointments, taking messages, filinglab results in appropriate patient chart, etc. Participates in departmental and hospital improvement plan Functions as a positive role model for peersand promotes a professional image of Iberia Medical Center. Maintains confidentiality, security, andintegrity of patient and organizational data. Consistently lives by Iberia Medical Center'sStandards of Performance. Adheres to the Patient Safety Guidelines.
