Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provides for resident's personal hygiene and daily living according to nursing standards of care and documents appropriately. This may include providing and clearing bedpans and urinals, providing baths, backrubs, shampoos and shaves, and assisting patients with showers. Assists with meals and feeds patients. Ambulates, turns and positions patients. Provides fresh water and nourishment between meals.
Assists with resident discharge, transfer or admission following established procedures.
Consults with and keeps staff nurse informed of change in resident's condition as soon as possible.
Anticipates and responds to resident's needs promptly.
Maintains resident's rights to confidentiality, privacy, fair treatment and the right to refuse treatment.
Completes all CEU’s as required by respective licensure. If licensed, maintains an active and current license.
Maintains friendly and courteous interpersonal communication skills and a positive service attitude.
Participates in performance improvement and educational activities.
Works willingly and accepts assignments as given.
Attends all mandatory meetings and programs.
Participates in opportunities that enhance personal and professional growth.
Performs other duties as necessary or assigned.
Complies with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, regulations, and Standards of Conduct relating to the position and agrees to report any suspected violations of law or Standards of Conduct.
Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations and JCAHO standards.
Maintains a safe work environment using safe work practices, utilizing standard precautions and complying with hazardous waste procedures at all times as described in St. Anthony's Safety Manual.
Maintains the confidentiality of patient, resident, employee and organizational information.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Successful completion of nursing assistant course or equivalent, or able to be obtained within four months of employment.
Has passed or ability to successfully pass the competency and skills tests to be eligible for state registry.
Previous long term care experience preferred.
Performance Requirements, Licenses, Certifications, Registrations
Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
Friendly and professional bedside manner.
Able to handle difficult residents with patience and empathy.
Effective oral, written, and reading communication skills.
Language SkillsAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, patients, families and other employees or the organization.
