Senior QA Engineer

Senior QA Engineer Chicago, IL – hybrid WFH (3 days remote, 2 days onsite) Summary This position is responsible for guiding and executing the testing of software features as part of a collaborative team including product managers and developers. This role involves leading quality reviews of custom-developed applications, creating test plans and strategies, and developing test cases in partnership with the development team, product owners, and business stakeholders. The role also tracks strategic testing across multiple applications due to enterprise-wide upgrades or maintenance. The ideal candidate will review and recommend QA standards and frameworks, including manual, automated, and performance testing, as well as defect management. They will also contribute to the growth of the internal quality assurance team, processes, and tools. What you'll be doing Design, develop, and execute test plans with project team members. Consult with project teams, SMEs, and Business Units to develop test plans, test cases, and execution procedures. Execute testing across multiple SDLC methodologies (Agile, Rapid Development, Waterfall, etc.). Translate functional and technical requirements into test cases and execution procedures. Recommend appropriate test execution approaches considering cost, scope, and timeline. Develop and execute manual and automated test cases and procedures. Document and track defects from identification through resolution. Log, reproduce, verify, and manage solution defects. Identify test execution metrics and communicate results to the project team. Provide test execution estimates to support resource planning. Facilitate onboarding and offboarding of testing resources as needed. Review test results from others and help determine issues and priorities. Create and maintain quality control artifacts accessible to teams within and outside of IT. Adhere to industry and firmwide IT quality standards and processes. Potentially step in as a product manager for products without an assigned Product Manager. Skills we're seeking 8+ years of experience in QA Engineering. Strong manual testing experience and willingness to continue manual testing. Experience testing software in Microsoft environments. Test automation experience is a plus, with potential for increased automation in the future.
