Lutheran Hour Ministries (LHM), a trusted global leader in Christ-centered media outreach, seeks a mission-driven and visionary Chief Marketing & Engagement Officer (CMEO) to lead the strategy and execution of LHM’s global brand, marketing, communications, and constituent engagement efforts. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team reporting directly to the Global CEO, the CMEO will shape how LHM communicates its mission to the world—building awareness, trust, and action among individuals, congregations, institutions, and partners who support the proclamation of the Gospel. The CMEO will provide strategic leadership for non-face-to-face fundraising channels, while also overseeing integrated campaigns, digital and print content, public relations, and audience engagement strategies across diverse global contexts. Key Responsibilities Constituent Engagement Strategy Lead the design and implementation of a holistic constituent engagement strategy that maps and nurtures the entire supporter journey—from first awareness to lifelong advocacy. Develop and refine journey-based segmentation models that guide tailored messaging, content, and experiences for different audience types (e.g., new contacts, engaged followers, financial supporters, ministry champions). Collaborate with the Ministry Support and Engagement teams to align priorities, key messages and engagement tactics across channels and departments, ensuring consistency and synergy in how audiences are inspired to participate, give, and advocate. Create pathways for deepening involvement through multi-touch campaigns, discipleship-aligned content, and personalized engagement plans that move constituents toward deeper connection with LHM’s mission. Use data and behavior insights to continuously optimize the constituent lifecycle—enhancing reach, increasing retention, and fostering long-term mission alignment. Leverage CRM tools and automation platforms to track constituent journeys and trigger personalized experiences at key moments of engagement. Brand Strategy & Messaging Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive global brand strategy that clearly communicates LHM’s mission, values, and vision. Develop messaging frameworks, tone guidelines, and storytelling approaches that unify the voice of LHM across departments, platforms, and regions. Ensure brand consistency and clarity across all internal and external communications. Global Collaboration & Contextualization Partner with LHM’s Global Ministries team to adapt marketing and constituent engagement strategies for regional and cultural relevance. Collaborate with regional leaders to design contextually relevant constituent journeys that inspire connection and progress naturally toward local financial support and partnership Provide scalable tools, templates, and training to empower localized communication and constituent outreach within international ministry centers. Marketing, Communications & Non-Face-to-Face Fundraising Oversee the planning, production, and performance of all marketing and communications initiatives, including digital, print, video, email, broadcast, and social media. Direct multi-channel non-face-to-face fundraising efforts such as digital giving, direct mail, telecare, and broadcast appeals—strengthening donor acquisition, retention, and overall generosity. Develop marketing campaigns and engagement strategies to drive measurable growth in reach, participation, and mission support. Strengthen LHM’s presence and influence through earned media, public relations, and media partnerships. Event Visibility & Public Presence Guide LHM’s presence at key Christian events, conferences, and conventions—maximizing visibility, relevance, and influence. Represent LHM as a public thought leader on issues related to faith-based media, outreach, and global engagement. Candidate Profile – Spiritual & Personal Commitment A committed follower of Jesus Christ who models LHM’s core values and confessional Lutheran identity A heart for evangelism and the global mission of the Church to reach the lost with the Gospel Professional Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, nonprofit leadership, or a related field required; Master’s preferred Minimum of 10 years of senior leadership experience in strategic marketing, brand management, communications, or audience engagement Proven success leading integrated marketing and communications strategies across digital and traditional platforms Demonstrated experience in non-face-to-face fundraising (direct response, digital, multichannel) Ability to lead creative teams and cross-functional collaboration across departments and cultures Expertise in storytelling, content strategy, and data-informed decision-making Familiarity with CRM systems and donor engagement tools (Salesforce and Marketing Cloud preferred) Willingness to travel domestically up to 25% and occasionally internationally Why LHM?
