Job DescriptionU. S. Steel Tubular Products has an immediate opening for a Quench and Temper (Q&T) Quality Assurance Engineer at its seamless pipe manufacturing facility located in Fairfield, Alabama. This role requires an individual who has a demonstrated track record of overseeing Q&T activities in a production environment. Steel Tubular Products manufactures a full line of threaded pipe for Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG) and Standard and Line (S&L) pipe. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Foster a culture, including ways of working and behaviors, that is congruent with our mission, values, and success model.Collaborate with Product Engineering, Commercial/Sales, Business Planning and Operations teams to assist in the creation optimized Quench and Temper (Q&T) schedules for seamless OCTG products.Oversee the quench and temper processing operational parameters to ensure seamless tubulars meet quality and industry standards.Develop and implement process control plans to optimize quench and temper parameters for improved product consistency and efficiency.Monitor and analyze process data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.Collaborate with the quality assurance team to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.Conduct regular inspections of quench and temper equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.Coordinate with other departments, such as production and engineering, to ensure seamless integration of quench and temper processes within the overall manufacturing workflow.Work as team member or team lead on quality improvement projects.Support the Quality Management System (QMS) by scheduled and unscheduled quality auditing and monitoring, ensuring inspection and testing compliance, and improving customer satisfaction. Support Operations and Staff groups within U.S. Steel Tubular Products.EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or a closely related engineering field.5+ years' experience in Quench & Temper operations which demonstrates technical expertise in Quality Assurance / Quality Control activities and associated software, e.g. Minitab, Tableau, Pi Vision.5+ years' Quality Management System AuditingExcellent communication skills, with the ability to read and interpret technical specifications.Strong computer and writing skills.Experience leading teams, working in teams, and working with customers.Proven track record of troubleshooting difficult problems in a plant environment.Familiarity with API 5CT, API 5L, API Q1, ISO 9001, and ISO 17025 standards a plusTravel up to 20%Company OverviewSince 1901, U.
