The Senior Analyst will be responsible for delivering actionable market intelligence on wafer fabrication materials and associated segments, with a major focus on integrating and expanding product offerings acquired from Linx Consulting. Working within the Market Intelligence Team, this full-time, exempt position reports directly to the SEMI Sr. Director of Market Intelligence. The role requires strong collaboration with internal stakeholders, external partners, and industry clients to support SEMI’s strategic objectives through high-quality quantitative research and forecasting.
This is a full-time, exempt position which reports to the Sr. Director, MIT and is based in Milpitas, CA.
Responsibilities
Market and Technology Analysis
Lead in-depth quarterly and annual research and forecasting on wafer fab materials markets (including but not limited to advanced thin films, photoresists and patterning materials, specialty gases, bulk wet chemicals, CMP slurries, and related segments). Analyze trends in consumption, technology transitions, emerging materials, and supply chain developments.
Report Production and Delivery
Manage the development, authorship, and timely release of key SEMI-branded reports, including but not limited to Wafer Fab Materials Quarterly, Advanced Thin Films, Cleaning and Surface Preparation, CMP, Patterning Materials, etc. Coordinate the integration of Linx methodologies, supporting knowledge transfer and collaboration with subject matter experts.
Research Advanced Materials and Technologies
Evaluate and report on developments in consumables and technologies for wafer cleaning, advanced surface preparation, CMP slurries/pads, specialty abrasives, and atomic layer etch.
Data Modeling and Forecasting
Maintain proprietary data models for materials demand, supply outlook, and market drivers using primary and secondary data sources. Develop and present capacity, sales, and market share forecasts at the supplier, regional, and global levels.
Industry Engagement and Customer Support
Conduct primary research, including interviews with industry stakeholders (e.g., end users, equipment and materials vendors, device makers). Address client inquiries related to market dynamics, technology roadmaps, and competitive benchmarking. Represent SEMI at industry forums as a subject matter expert in wafer fab materials.
Collaboration and Product Innovation
Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to provide market research reports aligned with SEMI’s global strategic direction and to integrate newly acquired products and expertise.
Project Management
Ensure adherence to best practices in project planning, execution, and quality control to maintain the highest standards in research deliverables.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field; advanced degree preferred.
Minimum 5 years of relevant industry or market research experience focused on semiconductor materials, wafer processing, or a closely related segment.
Demonstrated expertise in quantitative research, market modeling, and forecasting.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong data visualization skills; experience developing or enhancing reporting systems or tools preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of delivering complex analysis in clear, actionable formats (e.g., reports, presentations, dashboards).
Knowledge of global wafer fab materials markets and familiarity with Linx Consulting’s research domains (e.g., thin films, CMP, specialty gases/chemicals, advanced cleaning, surface preparation).
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a matrix and cross-functional environment.
Strong project management and organizational skills to ensure on-time, high-quality deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with building forecast models and integrating multiple data sources for the semiconductor materials or related sector.
Knowledge of key market drivers such as device demand, device technology transitions, and supply chain dynamics.
Prior participation in product integration projects or experience handling knowledge transfer from subject matter experts.
