Worker Type Regular Job Description The Machine Learning Engineer III will be a member of the Learning and Active Perception (LEAP) group in AV’s MacCready Works division. The role involves developing innovative computer vision (detection, classification, localization, and tracking) and analytics solutions for defense and commercial applications. The position requires skills across engineering, computer science, and mathematics, including computer vision, machine learning, optimization, deep neural networks, and visual tracking. Responsibilities span all development stages: requirements, design, prototyping, testing, and validation. Position Responsibilities Support development of computer vision and machine learning algorithms for detection, classification, localization, and tracking from various sensor platforms. Implement and validate ML algorithms through experiments. Analyze algorithms to solve specific problems and evaluate their success on new data. Set objectives, develop models, and establish metrics for progress. Select datasets and data representations. Analyze errors and develop strategies to improve models. Write and test software for integrating ML algorithms into aircraft systems. Other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience) BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field, or equivalent experience. 5-8 years of relevant experience in machine learning and/or computer vision. Proficiency in C/C++ and Python. Ability to troubleshoot complex systems. Experience with deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow or Keras. Knowledge of libraries such as scikit-learn, pandas, and OpenCV. Familiarity with Linux. Experience with dataset manipulation, algorithmic optimization, and predictive analytics. Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies Advanced degree preferred. Proficiency with office productivity tools. Ability to work independently within requirements. Team player with excellent communication skills. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to perform in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Ownership, initiative, and commitment to continuous improvement. The salary range for this role is

$136,807 - $194,040 . Compensation factors include location, responsibilities, experience, education, and skills. ITAR Requirement: U.S. Citizenship required. Must be willing to work on government contracts and obtain security clearance.
