In this role as a
Principal Electrical Engineer
within Medtronic's Coronary & Renal Denervation Operating Unit, you'll be part of the Design Assurance team. Our goal is to increase product development process rigor to ensure robust understanding of designs, documentation of compliance, and high-quality product launches that meet patient needs and reduce customer complaints. You will primarily focus on validating design verification test methods for complex electro-mechanical medical devices. Medtronic’s Coronary and Renal Denervation (CRDN) business seeks a Principal Electrical Engineer to join a high-performing team revolutionizing energy-based therapeutic medical devices to treat hypertension. You will leverage your technical breadth and business acumen to participate in designing and developing next-generation medical devices. Lead the team responsible for validating Design Verification Test Methods for new electro-mechanical medical devices, with experience in electrical system and subsystem testing. Collaborate with R&D, clinical, marketing, and regulatory teams to develop test methods based on design inputs and clinical use conditions. Develop and validate test equipment and fixtures, working with suppliers as needed, and manage related procurement and financial tracking. Complete complex test method validation tasks, including operator training, validation study design, data analysis, and report writing. Coordinate with team members and test operators to ensure timely validation activities aligned with project milestones. Provide expertise in test method development, support project investigations, and lead validation activities. Communicate progress clearly to project leadership and stay updated on regulatory standards and requirements. Translate international standards and regulatory guidance into effective test methods. Plan and schedule activities independently to meet deadlines. Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in science, technology, engineering, math, or related field with at least 7 years of technical experience, or an advanced degree with at least 5 years of experience. Preferred Qualifications
Experience in engineering development, test method development, design for six sigma, pre-clinical evaluations, system requirements, design control, ISO standards for medical devices, and capital equipment. Electrical engineering expertise is essential. Knowledge of project management, medical device industry, and regulations such as FDA 21 CFR Part 820, ISO 13485, ISO 10012, ISO 17025. Experience managing complex data sets and statistical analysis. Ability to manage project timelines effectively. Physical Job Requirements
