QUALITY TECHNICIAN

SUMMARY:

The Quality Technician is responsible for performing instrumentation calibrations, temperature uniformity surveys, system accuracy tests, repair/corrective maintenance of control systems, and instrumentation on all heating and cooling equipment. Oversees all aspects of pyrometry including the essential duties and responsibilities as outlined below.

THIS IS A NIGHT SHIFT POSITION

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Maintains Schedule for all Pyrometry related equipment/instrumentation Performs System Accuracy Test (SAT's) Performs Temperature Uniformity Survey (TUS's) Performs Instrument Calibrations Performs SSI Survey Data Logger Calibrations Performs TC Calibrator Calibrations (Altek) Demonstrates understanding of all furnace controllers Demonstrates understanding of AMS and BAC Pyrometry specifications Proficient with downloading survey data from "data logger" Proficient with "SSI Survey Data Logger" Proficient with "SDS Reporter" software Proficient with SSI "Real Time" charting software Proficient with "C3" software Proficient with TC Calibrator (Altek) Maintains calibration of pyrometry instrumentation Monitors and maintains TUS racks for all furnaces Calculates correction factors for data loggers Calculates correction factors for TC calibrators (Altek) Maintains spares for Thermocouples and Thermocouple Wire, Connectors, etc. Maintains spares for furnace instrumentation (temperature controllers, furnace controllers, temperature indicators, etc.) Proficient with computers and MS software (Windows, MS Excel, MS Outlook) Ability to present current and historical data to customers and third-party auditors. LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations within the organization. Ability to present current and historical data to customers and third-party auditors. English speaking and reading required.

ATTENTION TO DETAIL

Ability to observe details in order to accomplish tasks thoroughly and accurately.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Ability to understand various measurement systems and how to convert between them.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
