The Senior Staff Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and debugging software solutions across a range of platforms including operating systems, compilers, networks, and embedded systems. Contributes to the development of software tools and applications, ensuring hardware compatibility and influencing hardware design where applicable. Engages in architectural planning for networked systems and cloud infrastructure.The role will also engage with the cross functional team to understand, define, implement, test, and document product features for various Cepheid Product software. This position reports to the Senior Software Engineer Manager and is part of the Software Engineering Department located in Sunnyvale California and will be an on-site role. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, and maintain molecular diagnostics application software, predominantly in Java and Angular
As a technical lead, suggest and evaluate new technology ideas and develop them into new software features.
Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and other technical issues.
Drive root cause analyses in product development and post-production contexts
Mentor and develop other engineers by providing technical guidance, reviewing work and sharing knowledge. Influence the engineering culture for increased efficiency and quality.
The essential requirements of the job include: Bachelors degree with 10+ years of related work experience as a full stack Java developer in enterprise grade application development
Expert knowledge of object-oriented concepts, data structures and practical use of design patterns
Extensive experience with relational databases, schema design, SQL and data normalization
Experience in creating automated unit testing using JUnit and practicing test driven development
Experience with Agile Scrum methodology, leading a Scrum team through software development cycles with sprints, user stories, task estimation and planning.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: Experience with software development for medical devices, design controls and quality management.
The annual salary range for this role is $175,000-$185,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future. This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay. We offer comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees. Note: No amount of pay is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable.
