We are seeking an exceptional Science Manager to join our Applied Science team and help develop the next generation of edge models, optimize them, and co-design with custom ML hardware based on a revolutionary architecture. Key job responsibilities
Manage a team of 5+ scientists working on quantization, pruning, distillation, and fine-tuning of Generative AI models to optimize for edge platforms. Create a 3+ year science roadmap in the domain of edge intelligence. Focus on rapid maturation of science to build products and integrate them with the Echo family of devices. Work with stakeholders and partners to define roles and responsibilities. Fundamentally understand Amazon’s Neural Edge Engine to invent optimization techniques. Apply a strong understanding of first principles in Information Theory, Scientific Computing, Deep Learning Theory, and Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamics. Manage teams involved in training (preferably pretraining) Generative AI models. Foster collaboration with the compiler team, fellow applied scientists in the fine-tuning team, hardware architects, and product teams to build optimal ML-centric solutions for our devices. Encourage team publications in open-source platforms and represent Amazon at key ML conferences such as NeurIPS, ICLR, and MLSys. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
3+ years of experience managing scientists or machine learning engineers. Knowledge of ML, NLP, Information Retrieval, and Analytics. Understanding of machine learning approaches and algorithms. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business applications. Experience developing complex software systems involving deep learning, machine learning, and computer vision that have been successfully delivered to customers. PhD degree.
