Construction Superintendent
for a large project in Washington DC. Main responsibilities: Oversee field personnel, daily/weekly schedules, and construction operations. Supervise and schedule grading, drainage, paving, structures, and other construction crews and subcontractors. Provide leadership and direction to construction personnel. Manage field operations and coordinate work with other Superintendents and subcontractors. Emphasize safety, quality, and production, leading by example. Assist Engineers with quantities and production metrics. Coordinate equipment, crews, and activities to maximize efficiency. Attend progress meetings. Perform additional assignments as needed. Ensure resources are maintained, protected, secured, and used efficiently. Protect and enhance public relations, company image, and value. Understand project budgets and manage personnel and equipment accordingly. Have a working knowledge of all plans and specifications. Develop Foremen through mentoring. Assist with survey and field layout. Requirements and skills: 5-7 years of experience as a Superintendent in heavy civil construction (infrastructure, roads, bridges, tunnels, etc.). Strong decision-making skills. Ability to work in high-production environments. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Understanding of equipment used for production. Ability to respond effectively under pressure and deadlines. Experience with Federal requirements. Familiarity with DDOT / DDOE standards. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent team-building abilities. Flexibility and adaptability to changing conditions. Proven ability to manage, supervise, schedule, and delegate on large projects.
