Position Accountabilities and Essential Functions: The successful candidate must demonstrate experience, skills, and commitment to fostering an environment of belonging, diversity, equity and inclusion in students, faculty and staff.

Position Summary The Director of Student Support provides visionary leadership and direct oversight of a comprehensive suite of non-academic services that promote student wellbeing, equity, access, and persistence. Reporting to the Dean of Student Success, the Director leads, manages and directs student support functions that address mental health, accessibility, basic needs, recovery, and other barriers to student success, ensuring every student feels seen, supported and empowered.

This position is responsible for the strategic direction, coordination and performance of Personal Counseling Services, the Office of Disability Resources, CTE Special Populations support, and the Coordinated Care Network. The Director also serves as the campus liaison for the CREW collegiate recovery program and drives the integration of student support efforts across divisions, advancing Delta's commitment to fostering a culture of belonging, inclusion and holistic care. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING : Leadership and Direction of Student Support Offices

Direct and manage Personal Counseling Services, the Office of Disability Resources, the Coordinated Care Network, and CTE Special Populations support, ensuring that each area operates with strategic alignment, service excellence, and student-centered care. Provide administrative and strategic leadership over a comprehensive suite of non-academic student support services including mental health counseling, disability accommodations, basic needs access, and holistic care, with an emphasis on belonging, inclusion, and persistence. Supervise, mentor, and evaluate a diverse team of licensed clinicians, professional staff, and student support personnel, promoting a workplace culture rooted in respect, excellence, and service.

Policy Development and Equity-Minded Practices

Lead the development and implementation of equity-minded, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive policies and practices that proactively reduce non-academic barriers to student retention and completion. Ensure institutional compliance with applicable laws and ethical standards, including ADA, FERPA, HIPAA, and clinical licensure regulations by directing staff training, documentation practices, and adherence to professional guidelines.

Cross-Campus and External Collaboration

Coordinate and oversee collaboration among cross-campus partners to ensure cohesive and inclusive support services for diverse student populations, including adult learners, first-generation students, student parents, CTE students, and students of color. Champion collaboration between Student and Educational Services and Academics to deliver wraparound services that support students' personal, social, and academic wellbeing. Represent and advocate for the institution in relevant external partnerships and community networks to expand resources for students.

Program Oversight and Strategic Integration

Serve as the institutional liaison for the CREW collegiate recovery program and other grant-funded wellness or basic needs initiatives, ensuring program compliance and integration with broader student support efforts. Serve as an advocate for CTE student success through implementation of Perkins Grant funding, leading implementation of Perkins grant strategies related to CTE student success, including monitoring outcomes, coordinating services, and aligning interventions with institutional goals and compliance requirements.

Continuous Improvement and Assessment

Oversee departmental planning, goal setting, and assessment activities, using data and feedback to drive continuous improvement, refine service models, and demonstrate impact on student outcomes. Promote a culture of continuous improvement by monitoring service delivery, evaluating outcomes, and using data to inform practice.

Student Crisis and Care Leadership

Direct crisis intervention and student care protocols, including behavioral intervention, and serve on relevant committees or workgroups as assigned to provide leadership in times of student distress. Required Qualifications: Master's degree in social work, Counseling, Psychology, or a closely related field. Current licensure in the State of Michigan as Counselor, Social Worker, Psychologist, or Psychiatrist. At least three years of professional experience in clinical services, student support, or human services, in a higher education setting. Demonstrated leadership, crisis management, and cross-functional collaboration skills Additional Experiences Considered: Experience working with behavioral intervention teams, case management systems, or disability accommodation platforms. Demonstrated success in designing, managing, or evaluating holistic student support services, particularly in the areas of mental health, disability access, basic needs, or recovery support. Experience with grant implementation or external partnerships that expand student services. Knowledge of unique needs of CTE students and strategies to enhance their retention and completion.
