What is the opportunity The Director of Mutual Fund and Alternative Investment Operations is responsible for leading a diversified team that manages all production and change-related activities for all Mutual Fund and Alternative Investment products offered by RBC. This high-profile role involves managing existing personnel and processes, and partnering with the USWM business to expand the Alternative Investment product line, supporting the broader strategic goal of recruiting and serving UHNW advisors and their clients. The position offers extensive exposure to senior leadership within RBC Operations, RBC Technology, and the RBC USWM executive team. What will you do Lead a team of 20 focused on front-to-back processing across multiple sub-product lines within Mutual Fund and Alternative Investment Operations. Establish credibility with senior leaders and lead the expansion of Alternative Investments. Collaborate with staff across Operations, Technology, legal, compliance, and finance to manage change while ensuring regulatory compliance, client satisfaction, and operational risk standards. Lead an existing Alternative Investment Working Group to improve efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness, and to identify strategic changes to support growth. Work closely with RBC USWM Product teams to develop operational and technological roadmaps for product growth, improved service, and regulatory compliance. Maintain accurate ledgers, meet risk management standards, and oversee regulatory and audit inquiries. Develop staff to enhance efficiency and client service capabilities. Represent RBC Mutual Fund and Alternative Investment in industry forums such as ICI, Nicsa, and SIFMA. Partner with other Operations units to ensure accurate and efficient downstream reporting processes. Recruit, onboard, and train new staff, and meet employee engagement goals. Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert and primary contact for MF/Alts Operations within the firm. Respond professionally to feedback from internal and external customers, ensuring high service standards. Oversee daily administrative and operational functions, adapting to changing business and regulatory environments. Act as an escalation point for front office and client inquiries, including regulatory interpretation. Manage department budget, staffing, and performance metrics. Maintain and improve policies and procedures, staying informed on industry trends and regulations. What do you need to succeed Must-have 10+ years of experience in wealth management operations. 5+ years managing mutual fund and alternative investment operations, with essential experience in alternatives. Technical aptitude at Tier-1 level and leadership skills. Deep knowledge of business strategy and technology related to the field. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and resolution skills. Proven leadership in building and managing teams. Excellent conflict management, negotiation, and influencing skills. Ability to attract, develop, and retain top talent. Experience in change leadership and change management. Knowledge of brokerage/financial operations, vendor management, and systems. Strong communication skills for engaging with senior executives. FINRA SIE and Series 99 licenses. Nice-to-have MBA, Series 7, CPA, CFA certifications. Experience managing large teams. Extensive professional network outside the organization. The salary range for this position is $180,000 - $270,000, depending on experience, skills, and market conditions. Compensation includes salary, discretionary bonus, and benefits such as 401(k), health insurance, paid time off, and others.
