Position Overview: Leads the design, development, and deployment of scalable artificial intelligence (AI) solutions across Sutter Health. This role is responsible for building and managing a high-performing engineering team, implementing machine learning operations (MLOps) and large language model operations (LLMOps) best practices, and ensuring the ethical and effective use of artificial intelligence (AI) in clinical and operational settings. Collaborates with cross-functional leaders to drive innovation and deliver measurable impact through AI.
Job Description : EDUCATION: Bachelor’s TYPICAL EXPERIENCE: 8 years recent relevant experience SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
: Proficiency in Python, SQL, API development and cloud-native ML platforms (e.g., Azure ML, Databricks). Deep expertise in LLMs and familiarity with best practices in LLMops, alongside experience with MLOps frameworks Familiarity with EPIC Cogito and healthcare data standards is a plus. Strong communication, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills. Advanced technical and business knowledge of the software development life cycle, quality assurance, product management and other related disciplines/processes Demonstrated knowledge of business and clinical workflows with dependencies along with demonstrated understanding of and success in management techniques and communications skills necessary to successfully direct complex projects Sound understanding of health care operations including, but not limited to hospitals, clinics, medical offices, and information technology needs Skills to design engineering components of key system initiatives in order to assure success of product growth and future development Proven ability to align strategic planning, budget preparation, resource management and performance monitoring into an actionable technology plan that delivers the desired results Job Shift: Days

Pay Range is $106.84 to $170.95 / hour The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
