CACS Inc. is looking to hire a Bus Driver for the Head Start Preschool Program. This is a full-time position at 40 hours per week. This is a part-year position with a summer layoff, and the rate of pay is $16.84 without a CDA and $17.25 with a CDA.

Job Summary The Bus Driver transports pre-school children and families to pre-school classrooms and/or other programs' sponsored events. The Bus Drivers assist teaching staff with children and families, substitute in the classroom, and/or childcare when needed. The Bus Driver prepares, delivers, and or assists with meal preparation and, when needed, helps maintain cleanliness in classrooms and or work sites. Qualifications Education: High school diploma or the equivalent No CDA (Bus Driver I) CDA (Bus Driver II) Experience: Minimum of 5 years driving experience Drivers must have a chauffeur's license and a State of Michigan Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with A, B, or C group designation, (P) passenger and (S) safety endorsements and must be able to obtain medical card. Drivers must complete prerequisite training, CDL skills and road test, the Beginning Bus Driver Training Course, and complete a six-hour continuing education course every two years, to maintain the necessary CDL. Credentials must be available upon request while driving a CACS vehicle. Drivers must enroll in the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse through (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) Drivers must not have more than six active points within a 24-month period on their personal driving record, as determined by the State of Michigan. In addition, drivers are required by law to report conviction of any moving violation or the revocation, suspension, or cancellation of the driver's license to the Transportation Service Manager. Position Duties/Responsibilities Operates the bus safely. Performs and documents monthly bus evacuations with staff, children, and families. Each driver shall be familiar with the contents of the First Aid Kit, as specified by the state law. The driver shall be familiar with bus evacuations and operation of the fire extinguisher, as specified by state law. Maintains route book with current children and family information; logs information as necessary. Records accurate up-to-date information on emergency cards. Conducts pre-trip inspections of assigned vehicle as required by Federal and State law as well as the Head Start program Manual. Reports in writing any malfunction to the Mechanic and or designee. Maintains interior and exterior of the bus in a clean and safe operating condition and conducts appropriate route procedures within the state and federal guidelines. Maintains awareness of potentially unsafe surroundings. Employment with CACS Head Start is contingent upon successful completion of a comprehensive background check, including fingerprinting, in accordance with state and federal licensing requirements and Head Start Performance Standards. All candidates must also pass a pre-employment drug screening. Continued employment is subject to adherence to ongoing background check and health requirements as mandated by licensing regulations and agency policies.
