OBJECTIVE The Director of Engineering provides strategic leadership and operational oversight across the engineering, IT, project management, and post-sale client service functions. This role plays a critical part in driving product innovation, operational efficiency, and cross-departmental collaboration in support of the company’s growth and customer-centric goals. This leader will guide product development, oversee OEM strategies, manage technical platforms (CET & Revit), and act as a key technical liaison with internal teams and external clients. The role requires a forward-thinking leader who combines strong technical acumen with exceptional people management skills. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Leadership & Team Development Lead a high-performing, multidisciplinary team of engineers, project managers, IT professionals, and client service staff. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. Hire, mentor, evaluate, and retain top talent across departments. Strategic Planning & Execution Develop and manage the annual departmental roadmap, including process improvement, onboarding, training programs, KPI development, and organizational structure review. Champion and continuously refine the company's product roadmap and OEM development strategy. Process & Technology Integration Act as the company’s “Process Leader,” driving standardization and continuous improvement in partnership with the Quality Systems Manager. Oversee implementation and development of software platforms including CET, Revit, and other tools aligned with product engineering and client success. Promote ERP system utilization to enhance operational efficiency and data-driven decision-making. Cross-Functional Collaboration Serve as a key liaison between engineering and departments such as marketing, sales, production, and finance to ensure alignment on product strategy and delivery. Partner with customer service to design and implement installation training programs for our dealer partners. Customer Engagement & Representation Serve as a technical subject matter expert in high-stakes client engagements and strategic sales opportunities. Champion a client-focused culture emphasizing responsiveness, precision, and quality across all functions. Represent the company through active participation in SEFA (Scientific Equipment and Furniture Association), including pursuit of leadership roles on committees and the board. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field; master’s degree preferred. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in engineering leadership roles, preferably in furniture manufacturing or a related industry. Proven experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing complex product development initiatives. Strong knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite), engineering tools (e.g., Revit, CET), and principles of lean manufacturing. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to translate strategic goals into actionable initiatives.
