Job Description
Works within a team to provide synthetic oligonucleotides through the use of automated oligonucleotide synthesizers and Liquid Chromatography systems which support the development of automated assays using nucleic acid isolation and real-time amplification/detection technology within the Molecular Diagnostic plants.
Duties And Responsibilities
Follows established protocols for the synthesis and purification of oligonucleotides used in manufacturing and R&D. Follows established protocols for the preparation of buffers used in the oligonucleotide and conjugation processes. Follows established protocols for protein conjugation procedures. Contributes to the completion of goals associated with specific oligonucleotide process optimization projects. Contributes to developing solutions and providing recommendations as to the appropriate course of action to technical problems associated with the preparation of synthetic oligonucleotides. Provides documentation and validation support in execution of synthesis and/or purification process changes. Performs laboratory work and documentation in accordance with GMP, GLP and company guidelines. Perform tasks under general supervision.
Qualifications
Knowledge and skills:
Basic understanding in the use of the liquid chromatography manual or automated systems. Basic understanding of chromatography theory and hands-on experience with HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography). Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary together with the ability to interact effectively in team and cross-functional environments. Understanding of the GMP and GLP laboratory guidelines. Optional experience includes the use of a DNA (oligonucleotide) and/or Peptide synthesizer and having an understanding of the oligonucleotide synthesis chemistry. Understanding of Lean manufacturing tools highly beneficial.
Education And Experience
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology or related discipline. Prefer a minimum of 1 year of industrial or academic experience in the synthesis and/or purification of oligonucleotides.
