Roblox is looking for a Senior Platform Events Game Designer to join our LiveOps team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of creating engaging, large-scale events (e.g. Hunt Mega Edition) that captivate millions of players across the Roblox platform. You will design and orchestrate live events, challenges, and activities that highlight games and creators, and delight our players. This is a unique opportunity to shape the experiences that define the Roblox platform and connect our global community in new and exciting ways. In this role, you will: Brainstorm and design innovative, platform-wide live events, from initial concept to detailed game mechanics, reward structures, and narrative hooks. Define the nitty-gritty details of event mechanics, including core loops, player progression, and the first-time user experience to ensure events are immediately intuitive and engaging. Create scalable and reusable event systems and mechanics (e.g., quest systems, leaderboards, progression tracks, virtual economies) Work closely with engineering, UI/UX, art, and product teams to ensure the successful implementation of our event designs. Create and maintain clear, concise design documents, wireframes, and user flows to communicate our vision to the entire team. Stay current with industry trends, competitor events, and player expectations within the Roblox ecosystem and the broader gaming landscape. To be successful in this role, you have: 8+ years of professional experience in game design, with a focus on free to play, live operations, events, or systems design. Proven experience shipping and managing games and/or events for a live-service game or platform. Deep understanding of core game loops, player motivation, and retention mechanics, game economies, monetization strategies, and reward systems. Familiarity with user-generated content platforms and ecosystems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex design concepts to a variety of audiences. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate both qualitative and quantitative data into actionable design decisions. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile and iterative environment Ability to adapt to changing circumstances - you thrive in ambiguity Familiarity with the Roblox platform is preferred but not required For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Annual Salary Range $163,870 — $202,620 USD Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
