PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Director of Compliance, under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent for Educational Support Services, is responsible for coordinating and investigating TEA Complaints, Resolution and Mediation meetings, and requests for Due Process Hearings; state compliance review and indicators; and prepare reports for federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.

QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree or higher Special Education Certificate Texas Mid-management or other appropriate Texas Certificate Experience practicing conflict resolution/medication in a mid-size to large environment Three years of successful campus and/or district administrative experience TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Probationary/Term Contract: 250 days

SALARY:

$98,297 IA-7

Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of and skill in applying local, state and federal regulations related to students with disabilities. Skill in developing and presenting training related to compliance with special education law. Skill in consulting with diverse groups utilizing tact and diplomacy both verbally and in writing. Ability to effectively respond to inquiries and complaints in a timely manner. Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize work, and detail oriented. Demonstrated ability to use good judgment and discretion in sensitive, confidential issues and projects

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Represents the District in responding to TEA Complaints, Resolution, Mediation and Due Process Hearings. Assist with special education compliance indicators. Plans, trains, implements and monitors a comprehensive system for auditing special education records to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. Assist with troubleshooting and investigating complaints from parents and staff and developing and implementing corrective action plans. Works collaboratively with parent advocates. Attends IEP meetings as needed. Communicates new developments in special education law to staff. Coordinates functions related to responding to complaints, requests for Resolution, Mediation or Due Process Hearings. Consults with the District's legal counsel. Provide training to District administrators and other staff regarding compliance issues. Maintains confidentiality of information. Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Support Services.
