As a Data Engineer at BetterUp, you will join a small team responsible for the data systems that power everything from operational efficiency to personalized product experiences, and cutting-edge behavioral research and organizational analytics. You will be responsible for the end-to-end implementation of the data stack, building a platform that makes it easy for teams to define and ingest datasets, transform data, and access data for analytics and AI systems, following enterprise-grade security, privacy, and governance best practices. There is a strong focus on infrastructure and technical processes, unlocking enablement through standardization. You will work directly with stakeholders to ensure their data needs are met, define data strategies, implement data systems, and help infuse data into transformational experiences. You will be responsible for deeply understanding data problems, crafting technical strategies, and delivering high-quality solutions that are fit for today and tomorrow. Key Responsibilities : Data Architect: Design, assemble, and maintain large, complex datasets to deliver insights and power product experiences. Data Advocate: Promote data-driven decision-making and develop cross-functional data solutions. Data Protector: Build reliable, scalable data infrastructure with privacy and security techniques to safeguard data. Data Engineer: Manage the end-to-end data stack, including event collection, governance, integrations, and modeling. Data Custodian: Ensure data quality through metrics, documentation, processes, testing, and training. Data Enabler: Create tooling and processes to make data accessible for building data/AI products. If you have some or all of the following, please apply : 10+ years of relevant experience, including startup experience. Advanced knowledge of MLOps/AIOps approaches, tooling, and best practices (e.g., MLflow, Kubeflow, SageMaker, VertexAI, Seldon, BentoML). Proficiency with OLAP databases (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift). Advanced SQL knowledge and experience with modern SQL orchestrators like dbt. Hands-on experience developing data pipelines with tools like Airflow, AWS Step Functions, Dagster, Prefect, Stitch Data, Fivetran, Airbyte. Experience with stream processing technologies (e.g., Kafka, Spark, Databricks, Segment). Experience in decoupling transactional/source systems from BI reporting (e.g., dimensional modeling). Proficiency in Python for workflows and web servers. Familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Superset, Periscope). Experience with containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). Operational maturity skills (CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, monitoring, distributed systems). Interest in the ecosystem of GenAI tools and platforms. Experience collaborating with high-performance web developers is a plus.
