The ideal candidate combines deep engineering and architecture expertise with proven leadership in agile methodologies, low-code/no-code enablement, and automation to unlock new levels of operational excellence at the firm. This leadership role reports to the CIO, and is responsible for Digital Solutions Engineering, which covers the domains of custom software engineering, Microsoft 365 based digital enablement capabilities, and automation platforms. This role requires balance, with deep experience in modern software engineering, low code solutioning, and also the ability to lead with a business-oriented mindset, driving user experience and innovative product development. The Director will need to build and maintain strong relationships with other IT domain and business leaders, enabling them to become a trusted advisor for solutioning with advanced engineering approaches. The role. Provide strategic leadership and direction for the software engineering, low code solutioning, and automation capabilities, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and technology strategy. Lead, mentor, and grow high-performing teams of developers, engineers, and managers across multiple projects and platforms. Oversee the architecture, design, development, and delivery of complex, mission-critical applications, ensuring quality, scalability, and alignment with business needs. Establish and evangelize next-generation engineering practices including AI-assisted development, intelligent automation, agile methodologies, and data-driven DevSecOps to maintain competitive advantage. Develop and implement talent strategies to attract, develop, and retain top engineering talent, ensuring teams are structured and resourced for scalability and effectiveness. Establish scalable, strategic sourcing models with external solution delivery partners for flexible capacity. Create and manage the annual operating budgets and resource capacity for Digital Solutions Engineering, aligning with broader IT and organizational objectives. Lead with data driven metrics for modern software engineering and SDLC metrics to track ongoing productivity, velocity, and improvement in solution delivery and operations. Collaborate with executive leadership, business stakeholders, and IT partners to identify new opportunities, prioritize initiatives, and deliver solutions that drive new business value. Maintain strong relationships with vendors and external partners, negotiating contracts and ensuring the procurement of partner services that support strategic objectives. The qualifications. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred. 10 plus years of progressive experience in software engineering, agile methodology, and solution delivery leadership. Prefer recent senior leadership experience in leading modern, large scale software engineering, solutioning, and automation teams and capabilities. Demonstrated experience working in large cross-functional teams, leading strategically with senior-level management and stakeholders across the organization. Deep knowledge and passion for systems architecture, software design, and modern development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, DevOps). Experience with software engineering on modern cloud based platforms required; Microsoft Azure stack preferred. Demonstrated experience working with product management, design thinking, micro-services based architecture, and leading with strong technical architecture domain knowledge. Demonstrated experience with strategic vendor management and working with flexible sourcing models. Demonstrated ability to attract, inspire, motivate, and develop high-performing engineering talent. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to influence at all organizational levels.
