Job Summary
This is an opportunity for a motivated lawyer to provide counsel on complex matters related to insurance regulatory filings, financial reporting, treasury support, corporate governance, subsidiary operations, and transactions. The role involves guiding and supporting insurance regulatory filings and requests, representing HCSC with trade organizations and regulators, and providing sound legal advice on regulatory, business, and operational issues in a complex legal and technological environment. The successful candidate will partner with business leaders to develop strategies that support and grow HCSC's business while advancing its mission.
HCSC is the largest customer-owned health insurer in the United States, operating Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans in Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. Beyond health insurance, HCSC offers a diverse portfolio of related products and services, aiming to expand access to quality, cost-effective healthcare to help people live healthier lives.
The position can be based in Chicago, Illinois; Richardson, Texas; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Helena, Montana; or Nashville, Tennessee. Please note this is a hybrid role requiring in-office presence three days a week at the respective location. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
Job Requirements
- Juris Doctor Degree and a license to practice law in the state where the legal department is located.
- At least 5 years of experience practicing law post-degree.
- Demonstrated experience with insurance and healthcare regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Job Requirements
- Knowledge or understanding of healthcare, health insurance, or claims administration.
- Over 3 years advising providers, insurers, or healthcare entities.

Compensation varies based on skills, education, and experience. This role may be eligible for an annual incentive bonus, subject to plan terms and conditions.

Base Pay Range
$118,800.00 - $220,800.00
