The Organization

The Freedom Center is a new division of the Young Women’s Freedom Center (YWFC) that provides back-end infrastructure for YWFC and fiscal sponsorship for Sister Warriors Freedom Coalition and Beloved Village . It is founded on 30 years of work to end the criminalization and incarceration of women and trans people of all genders, offering fiscal sponsorship, operational support, coaching, and training to projects led by systems-impacted people.

Salary Range: $95,000 - $110,000

The Position

Reporting to the CFO, the Director of Finance will be a key leader on a small finance team, responsible for contracts and grants management, payroll, internal reporting, and overseeing the Finance Fellow. This role requires collaboration with various organizational leaders.

Responsibilities:

1. Contracts & Grants Management: Oversee the full lifecycle of grants, manage financial reporting, monitor budgets, prepare proposals, and ensure compliance and audit readiness.
2. Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for internal and external stakeholders.
3. Payroll: Review timesheets, process payroll, and manage payroll allocations.
4. People Management: Support and develop the finance team and staff understanding of nonprofit finances.
5. Operations: Support CFO with operational tasks, lead special projects, and innovate financial processes.

Minimum Requirements:

• BA/BS in relevant field.
• At least four years of experience managing grants and financial operations in the nonprofit sector.
• Experience managing finance teams.
• Proficiency with accounting software and data management systems.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to adapt to changing organizational needs.
