Overview
The Head of Capital Markets is a direct report to the CEO and is responsible for refining and executing the company’s funding strategy. You will manage and enhance the ecosystem of Gilbane Development Company’s funding and equity partners to capitalize on our robust pipeline of development projects, often working through innovative transaction structures to secure the best economics for the company. The Head of Capital Markets will also partner internally with the finance, development, operations, legal, and risk teams on revenue forecasting, strategy, business planning, and operational requirements.
Responsibilities
- Structure, analyze, negotiate, and execute on equity raises to facilitate the company’s rapid growth in multifamily, student housing, and affordable housing development.
- Build and cultivate existing investor relationships across all investor types including family offices, high-net-worth investors, institutional, private banks, private equity, etc.
- Develop new relationships, funding sources, and deal partners.
- Work directly with key Principals and Senior Officers in driving the firm's capital raising strategy and its implementation.
- Provide decisive leadership while emphasizing collaboration.
- Prepare board and executive-level presentations to guide business strategy decision-making and reporting.
- Initiate calls to investors and meet face-to-face to explain investment opportunities.
- Participate in strategic planning with senior management to set financial goals and the company’s strategic agenda.
- Effectively track performance and articulate the investment strategy and results to potential and existing investors.
- Participate in investment, valuation, and risk management processes.
Experience/Education
Qualifications
- 7 to 10 years of capital markets transaction execution experience in the CRE sector.
- 3 to 5 years of hands-on management experience.
- 5+ years in a leadership role with personnel management experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in math, business, finance, or economics.
- Change management experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong Excel skills required; financial modeling skills preferred.
- Proven problem-solving, conceptual thinking, and analytical abilities.
- Strong process improvement and project management skills.
- Strong executive-level communication skills.
- Excellent relationship-building skills to work effectively across all areas of the business.
Salary will be determined based on education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, internal equity, and market data. The range for this position is $280,000 - $380,000.
