Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technician to join our team. As a vital member of our surgical department, you will be responsible for preparing and passing instruments during surgical procedures. Responsibilities
Establish and maintain a sterile field, pass instruments and suture to the physician as directed. Use the physician preference card as a starting point when pulling cases and setting up the OR. Ensure that preference cards are kept up to date and complete. Work effectively as a team member to care for patients. Maintain a safe environment by implementing technical and aseptic practices at all times. Demonstrate clinical expertise in use and care of all surgical supplies, instruments and equipment. Adhere to Universal Barrier Precautions for patient and own safety in all patient care situations. Monitor and control the surgical environment, maintaining proper traffic control, dress codes and adherence to OR sanitation policies and procedures. Familiar with facility policy and procedure regarding decontamination, processing, and sterilization of all instruments and supplies processed within the facility. Competent to perform assigned patient care responsibilities meeting population-specific and developmental needs of patients served by the department. Adapt assigned patient assessment, treatment and/or care methods to accommodate unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age-specific and other developmental needs of each patient served. Requirements Education/Skills
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
Two or more years of experience preferred.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
BLS required.
