Job Title: Clinical Laboratory Scientist The laboratory scientist will perform routine and complicated laboratory procedures including specimen processing, testing of patient specimens, calculation and reporting of results, performance of quality control procedures, operation and maintenance of instruments and equipment. Key Responsibilities: Perform all routine and complicated laboratory procedures including specimen processing and handling, testing of patient specimens, calculating and reporting of results. Obtain blood specimens via venipuncture and/or finger stick, accurately identifies and labels appropriately. Answer pneumatic tube system; follow procedures for processing and testing specimens, including operating various centrifuges. Recognize errors or improbable results and takes appropriate action. Report critical values per Policy and Procedure. Perform tests within established timeframe; performs laboratory testing, if designated, in the following sections: Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Chemistry, Special Chemistry, ER Stat Lab, and Microbiology. Perform blood bank procedures, including cross matching, ab ids, and dispensing of blood products. Operate laboratory automated analyzers according to established procedures. Perform, analyze, and record QC according to Policy & Procedure following CLIA, CAP, AABB, and JCAHO guidelines. Perform and record Performance Improvement indicators and reports results. Perform established daily and periodic preventative maintenance with documentation. Troubleshoots minor problems and initiates service calls as needed. Order (or notifies assigned associate) and restocks supplies/reagents. Assist in training new associates and students in Laboratory practices. Follow established protocols for safety, infection control, security, compliance, and the use of hazardous materials. Utilize LIS and HIS computer systems appropriately to perform, charge, and report laboratory results. Complete annual competency assessment successfully and by assigned date. Education Requirements: A Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or closely related field is required. Current Board Certification for Laboratory Professionals is also required. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm Work Type: Full Time
