Overview
Edgewater Federal Solutions is currently seeking a
Principal Storage Engineer III . In this Storage Administration role, you will be responsible for design, deployment, testing, certification, patching, and addressing interoperability issues of the base storage system, including all features, components, and application dependencies such as Storage Area Network (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS), local disk, Fiber Channel, and iSCSI.
This position requires an active Top Secret clearance. We are hiring in Pocatello, Idaho, or Clarksburg, WV. Responsibilities Supporting highly available enterprise-grade storage arrays and storage networking equipment. Managing NAS/file storage protocols such as SMB/CIFS, NFS v3, and v4. Configuring ISCSI and/or Fiber Channel Fabric connections to switches and arrays. Applying functional knowledge of Windows Server OS and Active Directory/LDAP/DNS/NTP/Kerberos, especially regarding network file system storage access in Windows. Managing Windows NTFS security settings, Windows ACLs, and VSS snapshots. Configuring POSIX OS ACLs and mode-bits related to file system permissions. Managing Windows Distributed File System (DFS) for SMB high availability. Performing file-based data migrations using tools like Robocopy and Rsync. Executing changes methodically to minimize risk and downtime in an enterprise environment. Understanding storage concepts such as RAID, disk technology, disk/device tiering (HSM), disk cache, compression, data deduplication, replication, snapshots, and host multipathing. Understanding block, file, and object-based storage and their appropriate use cases. Familiarity with virtualization, VMFS, vVols, especially VMware vCenter/vSphere/vSAN, related to thin provisioning and data reduction techniques. Experience with storage solutions like Cohesity, Pure Storage FlashArray or FlashBlade, Dell EMC, object protocols (S3), Dell Compellent, Western Digital IntelliFlash, NetApp, EMC VNX, Isilon, Hitachi Arrays, and Hitachi Command Suite is a plus.
Qualifications
10+ years of storage-related experience. Must have an active Top-Secret Clearance and be willing to undergo a polygraph exam once hired. Advanced storage vendor certifications are preferred. Bachelors degree is preferred but not required. Experience managing mainframe storage systems using the FICON protocol is highly preferred.
