THE ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The

Senior Program Manager, Alumni Engagement

plays a vital role in strengthening the lifelong bond between UC Law San Francisco and its vibrant alumni community.

Reporting to the Director of Alumni Engagement, this role leads the strategy and execution of signature events, volunteer programs, and engagement initiatives that cultivate meaningful relationships, professional networks, and lasting loyalty among more than 23,000 alumni.

In close collaboration with Advancement team members and colleagues across the UC Law SF campus, the Senior Program Manager activates the alumni network, creates pathways for meaningful connection, and inspires philanthropic support that advances the mission of the law school.

With a strong emphasis on relationship-building and program execution, this role serves as a connector, advocate, and ambassador who will engage alumni in ways that celebrate their achievements and keep them meaningfully tied to the institution and each other.

Typical duties and responsibilities consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

Alumni Engagement Lead and Innovate: In collaboration with the Director of Alumni Engagement, develop and execute dynamic strategies that deepen alumni involvement and unlock new fundraising opportunities across regional chapters and affinity groups. Own Key Relationships: Take the lead on a portfolio of alumni chapters and affinity groups, providing guidance and support to ensure consistent engagement, event success, and sustained activity. Drive New Initiatives: Identify emerging trends and design creative programs that reimagine how alumni connect with each other and with the institution, whether virtually and in person. Empower Volunteer Leaders: Oversee key volunteer-led initiatives, equipping alumni with the tools and motivation so they become a strong network of ambassadors who help drive meaningful outreach efforts. Communications and Outreach: Develop and disseminate engaging content through various channels (email, social media, newsletters) to keep alumni informed and connected. Data Management and Analysis: Track and analyze alumni engagement metrics and use data to inform future strategies and improve programs. Event Management

Produce High-Impact Events: Lead the planning and flawless execution of signature alumni events ensuring a high-quality experience for attendees. Oversee all aspects of events from budgets, contracts/permits, and timelines to program development, promotion, and staffing. Create detailed event briefings and post-event reports. Own the Alumni Events Calendar: Manage the comprehensive alumni events calendar, ensuring strategic alignment across alumni engagement and fundraising initiatives. Be the Face of the Event: Serve as a primary point of contact for event participants, campus collaborators, and volunteer teams-delivering a high level of service and support before, during, and after events. REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or relevant certifications in higher education, nonprofit management, communications, or related fields preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in alumni relations, advancement, event management, constituent engagement, or other related field preferably in higher education. Demonstrated success in managing large-scale events, volunteer programs, and multi-channel engagement strategies. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

Exceptional interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills are essential for interacting and building trust and rapport across diverse range of alumni and internal stakeholders. Familiarity with the legal education landscape or experience working with alumni preferred. Proven project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and meet deadlines with high attention to detail and cross team collaboration. Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities with experience designing engagement programs from concept through execution. Proficiency in relevant technologies including alumni databases (e.g., Salesforce, Blackbaud Raiser's Edge) email marketing platforms, event management tools, and social media. Budget management and vendor negotiation skills with experience successfully managing logistics and operational coordination. Comfortable with public speaking and serving as a confident representative of the institution and its programs at events. Relationship-driven, collaborative, and mission-aligned with a deep appreciation for the power of alumni networks. Highly organized, self-motivated, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment. Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed for events and alumni activities. BENEFITS
