Carmen Schools of Science & Technology is pleased to open our search for a Special Education Paraprofessional for the 2025-26 school year! Campus Opening(s): Southeast High School Salary Range: $21.00/hr. (0 Years) - $25.00/hr. (8+ Years) Qualifications 1. Must hold or be eligible to obtain a Special Education Program Aide License issued by Wisconsin's Department of Public Instruction (DPI). Individuals who hold a valid Wisconsin DPI license are also eligible for this role. 2. Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certified or ability to be trained and certified 3. Ability to communicate effectively to achieve assigned duties and goals 4. Passion for quality education and student achievement 5. Ability to function in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment with a professional approach to challenges Essential Duties & Responsibilities Provides, under the direct supervision of a licensed teacher or administrator, instruction to students in a variety of individual and group activities (e.g. math groups, science experiments, reading, behavioral skills, daily living skills, writing, verbal skills, etc.) for the purpose of reinforcing instructional objectives and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEP). Communicates effectively with supervising teacher(s) or other staff as assigned for the purpose of promoting continuous improvement of individual student goals. Implements under the supervision of assigned teacher the behavioral plans designed by IEP team for students with behavior disorders or other special needs. Maintains files/records for the purpose of providing written reference and meeting mandated requirements. Monitors special education students (i.e. classroom, field trips, lunchroom, playground, during life enrichment activities, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment. Performs record keeping and clerical functions (i.e. student files, checking papers, attendance, daily logs, etc.) for the purpose of supporting the teacher in providing necessary records. Attends meetings and in-service presentations (i.e. trainings, IEP meetings, emergency procedures, etc.) for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Physical Requirements Must be able to constantly walk, stand/be on feet throughout the day (indoor and occasionally outdoors) Must be able to frequently talk, sit, bend, kneel, lift, push, pull, carry, reach above/below shoulder, squat, stoop, and twist Frequently = at least 50% of work time Constantly = at least 50% - 100% of work time Compensation & Benefits Carmen Schools of Science and Technology provides salaries commensurate with qualifications and experience, plus excellent health and worksite benefits, free life insurance, free employee assistance program (EAP), free short-term disability insurance, 403b retirement plan, flexible spending accounts, and generous paid time off.
