Johnson County Park and Recreation District is seeking a proven leader to join its team as it continues unprecedented growth through the development of new parks, trails, recreation facilities, programs, and events. This position will substitute at our Before/After School Care programs, as well as our Early Childhood Education Programs. Responsibilities include daily care and supervision of children, purchasing program supplies, equipment, and food items within budgetary guidelines, ensuring the general health, welfare, and well-being of each child, carrying out daily lessons and maintaining Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) requirements for both staff and children, and being a good communicator to all children, parents, administration, supervisors, and co-workers, providing excellent customer service. Additionally, the candidate must enroll and attend 15 hours of off-site in-service annually and learn and observe all JCPRD guidelines, policies, and procedures. Days: Monday - Friday Hours: 6-8 hour shift between 7:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M. (additional hours may be necessary) Locations: 19310 W. 159th Street, Olathe, KS 66062 (daily location will vary) Qualifications include a high school graduate with a minimum of fifteen credit hours in Education Recreation, or Early Childhood Education, and a preferred bachelor's degree in Education, Physical Education, Administration of Parks and Recreation, Early Childhood, Child Psychology, or relevant field. One year of experience in a school age and/or early childhood setting is required, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices, self-motivation, ability to prioritize personal responsibilities and accomplish job tasks with autonomy from close supervision, leadership and supervisory skills, and the ability to successfully pass a driving, education, and criminal background check.
