Service Center Manager
The Service Center manager provides planning, training, development of the organization, directs and maintains the service center. This involves the oversight of repairs to ensure proper repair methods are used and that proper engineering methods are considered when reverse engineering non-OEM parts, including coatings, tolerances, fits, etc. The Service Center manager is responsible for overseeing the safe operation and maintenance of machine tools throughout the facility. The position is responsible for remaining profitable, for providing total customer service/satisfaction while providing a safe and prosperous work environment for all employees. Direct interaction with customers and the sales team is required. The position is also responsible for good labor relations between hourly and supervisory personnel. Responsibilities: P & L responsibilities for the overall administration of the Service Center. Confer with engineers and other personnel to provide technical information. Develop, coordinate, and monitor all aspects of repair functionality and manpower allocation. Develop and implement strategies to advance sales and return on investment. Monitor expenses and establish controls to ensure profitability along the lines established in the plan. Implement the Elliott Quality Assurance programs and oversee IS0-9002 compliance. Oversee investigations into equipment failures or difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and recommend remedial actions at the Fairfield facility. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports to provide technical guidance to engineering and shop personnel. Warranty, scrap and rework, and cost reduction planning and implementation. Implement procedures to meet and achieve compliance of local and governmental regulatory requirements. Monitor safety committee recommendations and implement safety programs to eliminate OSHA reportable injuries. Monitor supervisory personnel performance to ensure that all personnel are treated fairly and equally. Directly supervises the activities of the Shop Supervisor, Purchasing, Customer Service and Quality Control Departments. This would include hiring, discipline, performance appraisals and forecasting and salary planning activities. Qualifications: Engineering and/or Business Management degree required. A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in turbo machinery service and repairs; or extensive experience in turbo machinery service and repairs. A minimum of five years' hands-on managerial experience. A thorough and comprehensive knowledge of high-speed rotating equipment overhaul, installation and operation. A working knowledge of chemical, petrochemical, power generation and industrial processes a plus. A proven leader and motivator. Strong planning and analytical skills.
