Job Description

: Under the supervision of a senior technician or supervisor, this position is responsible for ensuring the continuous and reliable operation of mechanical systems and equipment, with a focus on welded piping systems. The technician inspects, tests, installs, fabricates, modifies, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs a wide range of piping systems and associated equipment. Piping systems and equipment include, but are not limited to: Boilers Compressed gas systems Steam and condensate systems Air compressors Laboratory and industrial kitchen equipment Steam stations Heat exchangers Condenser water systems Condensate systems Chilled water systems Heating hot water systems Assist other trades as needed to support cross-functional maintenance efforts. Adhere to all safety practices and procedures. Clean and maintain work areas and equipment to ensure a safe and organized environment. Attend meetings and complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner. Provide a high level of customer service in all interactions. Communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and supervisors using written, electronic, and verbal methods and devices. Operate departmental vehicles as required. Perform other duties as assigned. The technician also responds to emergency situations, evaluates issues, and implements corrective actions as needed. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years of experience in

maintenance, pipefitting,

and/or welding trades,

including work with related equipment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficient in the use of pipefitting and welding tools and equipment. Basic understanding of plumbing code compliance. Knowledge of piping components, including types of valves, fittings, and piping materials. Familiarity with university Building Design Standards (BDS) related to the maintenance and repair of building systems and equipment. Basic understanding of the project process as managed by FOD Design and Construction. Valid Drives License Desired Qualifications: Associate degree, technical degree, or vocational certificate in a skilled trade or maintenance-related field. Possession of a boiler operator's license (e.g., low pressure or high pressure). Valid OSHA 10-hour General Industry Safety and

Health certification. Pay Range and Hours: The Targeted Hiring Range for this position is $28.70 - $35.88 per hour. The position works Monday-Friday from 7:00am-3:30 pm. Shift, hours, days, and/or location are subject to change based on operational need in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement; may work overtime; subject to 24-hour emergency call.
