Senior Manager, Solid Propulsion Design

Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking a Senior Manager, Mechanical Design for its Huntsville, AL Headquarters. This position is responsible for leading the Missile Solutions Engineering Solid Propulsion Systems group within the Design and Analysis group. This group focuses on the design, analysis and integration of solid propellant based propulsion systems with specific responsibility for Mechanical Design of Solid Propulsion Systems. Programs supported include both military and commercial applications. This is a fast paced environment that requires knowledge of the entire value stream from proposals to product implementation. Essential Functions:

Provides technical leadership for the Missile Solutions Engineering Mechanical Design group which is critical to Aerojet Rocketdyne Development and Production Programs. Develops and implements processes and tools as appropriate for the Missile Solutions Engineering Mechanical Design group for continued development, education and training. Manages direct reports working on a variety of project activities. Works closely with the Business Development, Program Management, and Engineering Leadership to develop solutions and response to potential customer Propulsion system inquiries and proposal support. Travel: 10%. Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience. 8 years' experience with design of solid propulsion systems. Demonstrated supervisory and strong communication skills managing a team of engineers with multiple assignments and priorities. 5 years Knowledge of DoD Security Regulation. 5 years' EAR/ITAR experience. Active US Secret Security Clearance. Preferred Additional Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Chemical Engineering (or other related discipline) is preferred. Advanced degree desired. Understanding of and planning skills for technology development for new propulsion products, including familiarity with performance metrics such as cost, schedule, and variance analysis. Experience with CREO CAD System and Windchill PLM System is desired.
