The Graphic Design/Pre-Press Tech is responsible to create and design publications, marketing materials, bill inserts and miscellaneous printed materials for cooperatives, external clients and internal departments using a variety of computerized graphic design software. Prepare projects for printing. Communicate and work directly with cooperatives and various external and internal clients. The Impact You'll Make In This Role: Essential Job Functions: Create and design a wide range of publications, brochures, marketing pieces as requested by customers using current graphic design software. Provide Pdf file for customer review and approval. Interact and communicate effectively with internal and external clients to produce high quality material to meet their needs. Troubleshoot and correct electronic files from various graphic design software from customers. Advise customers of different layout options. Pre-flight and trouble-shoot electronic files for output to plates for printing process using page layout (Sierra) or Prisma Prepare software. Accurately complete job ticket with printing details to ensure project quality assurance. Record work hours according to established procedure to ensure complete and correct customer billing. Workload is 65 percent billable. Communicate with other Publication Services staff on prioritizing and scheduling in order to meet deadlines. Assist with training new department employees on Dairyland procedures and assist with orientation. Maintain organized departmental graphic art files in electronic and paper format. Perform other duties as assigned. Your Experience and Expertise: Minimum Qualifications: Education & Experience: Associate Degree in graphic design with a minimum of two (2) years experience using a variety of graphic design software required. Work experience in customer relations desirable. Skills: Thorough knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite. Thorough understanding of digital file formats and electronic pre-flighting for creating plates for printing presses, along with Prisma Prepare software for Canon inkjet printer. Thorough knowledge of imposition software, process and spot colors, as well as advanced color management skills. Knowledge of postal regulations and procedures related to piece design. Knowledge of logo printing standards, copyright laws, paper types and weights. Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interface effectively with individuals at various levels, both internal and external. Strong math, spelling, and proofreading skills required. Must be able to operate computer, laser printer, computer-to-plate system, telephone, and copy machine. Highly creative and imaginative with the ability to design verbal concept into visual illustration. Keen attention to detail. Solid organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects of varying complexity. Ability to work in a deadline driven environment. Ability to learn new skills and technologies as needed. Must be able to work with limited supervision.
