Navy Navigation Technical Specialist
Noblis MSD is seeking a Navy Navigation Technical Specialist to serve as a Waterfront Engineer. Prior background of Navigation Electronics Repair and Operation is highly desired. Specifically the candidate will be serving as a Waterfront Engineer for U.S. Navy Navigation programs. You will provide engineering and technical assistance support in San Diego, CA. The Navy Navigation Technical Specialist is a full time position, and will consist of a combination of remote work, and on-site work for ships located in San Diego, CA. This position will lead the testing and troubleshooting of shipboard navigation equipment and lead technical refreshes of existing systems. Responsibilities: Complete Shipboard Operability Verification Tests for navigation and steering systems Assess proper integration with navigation and steering peripheral equipment such as Hydraulic Power Units, Navigation Data Sources, and or RADARs Travel to fleet concentration areas to facilitate technical installations, and or repairs. Up to 25% Facilitate crew maintenance upgrades as it pertains to new system installation and operation. Provide subject matter expertise at status meetings. Complete assigned tasking with minimal to no supervision. Facilitate fleet implementation and fielding plans. Develop and execute test plans, and update system drawings as needed. Provide feedback and lessons learned for test plans and technical documentation Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree in related technical field OR a High School Diploma and 6+ years technical experience will be considered. Active military service as an ET, ETV, or EM. Additional electronics technician related experience may also be considered. Must be willing and able to travel up to 25%, domestic and international (passport required). Must be able to obtain Sec+ within 1 year of date of hire/start date. US Citizen Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain a secret clearance required. Desired Qualifications: 14NO, 14NM or Navigation Technical Subject Matter Expert Preferred. Proficiency of Inertial Navigation Systems (INS), gyrocompasses, speed sensors, fathometers and electronic charting systems. Knowledge of basic project management principles to include but not limited to planning, organizing, directing and controlling organizational resources in order to meet goals and objectives. Experienced in specific to Naval maintenance and upkeep processes is a plus. Ability to interact with multiple Navy activities and effectively communicate technical information with all levels of personnel both military and civilian. Knowledge of Ethernet networking. Troubleshooting of lab and system hardware. General Windows OS experience (Install/Configure/Troubleshoot). Proficient in using MS Office products. Excellent communications skills a must.
