Research Equipment Specialist
Support Stanley Manne Children's Research Institute researchers by overseeing equipment usage and upkeep along with assisting researchers as needed by providing training, support, and training. Maintain Facilities Shared equipment, such as all cold storage, autoclaves, dishwashers, common scientific equipment. Ensures overall lab compliance with all associated rules & regulations such as IACUC and Research Safety. Utilize lab research experience to support laboratories at Stanley Manne Children's Research Institute. Job Duties: Maintain Facilities Shared equipment, such as all cold storage, autoclaves, dishwashers, common scientific equipment. Ensures overall lab compliance with all associated rules & regulations such as IACUC and Research Safety to ensure compliance with all safety and animal usage requirements. Work with NW research safety and CCM/IACUC teams to better serve our research community. Work with Biorepository, Translational lab and Histology Microscopy. Participate in equipment evaluation, purchase, support, and maintenance of service contracts. Negotiate purchases with vendors. Maintains & updates portions of budgets. Tracks & summarizes lab supply expenses. Verifies accuracy of invoices. Work with labs and engineers to coordinate equipment required certifications, coordinating PMs, and calibrations of devices along with training researchers how to properly use and calibrate devices. Monitor and set up lab alert monitoring system, overseeing C02 incubator use and working with researchers and engineers to ensure required replacement parts were installed due to component failures. Orders &/or maintains inventory of reagents and supplies. When required trains & direct institutes lab EEs &/or students on proper equipment usage. Other job functions as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a scientific major or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 3 years' lab/bench or other relevant experience required; OR Successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a master's or higher degree in a scientific major or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 1 year lab/bench or other relevant experience. Working knowledge of computers, ability to troubleshoot, work independently, and function as a team member is essential. Therefore, experience in regular interaction with outside groups is highly desirable. Excellent command of the English language and the ability to communicate effectively. Strong organizational skills including the ability to establish priorities, react promptly to a large variety of requests, and the ability to keep the workplace clean and organized. Education: Bachelor's Degree (Required) Pay Range: $43,680.00-$67,704.00 Salary At Lurie Children's, we are committed to competitive and fair compensation aligned with market rates and internal equity, reflecting individual contributions, experience, and expertise.
