HII Mission Technologies Internship
This is an UNPAID internship through the DoD SkillBridge Program for transitioning active-duty US military personnel. The intern will actively train on meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior company leadership. HII Mission Technologies Internship programs are focused on placing transitioning military into internships that require skills, education, and military training similar to their current or previous military jobs; positions that could easily transition over to a full-time regular and permanent job with HII. Objective
The SkillBridge intern will train as a Master Trades Person 2 - 3 within HII-Mission Technologies, reporting to a designated HII Supervisor with the goal of learning the maintenance actions and duties required of our Master Trades Person 2 - 3 in support of ACCCIT (Aircraft Carrier Climate Control Improvement Team) and the required maintenance responsibilities on recirc systems, supply systems, exhaust systems, toxic gas damper, and unit heaters. Desired End State (3-4-month target)
At the end of four months, the intern will be able to further develop skills needed to be presented with a problem, troubleshoot, provide recommendation or path forward to offer a solution, complete repairs specific to shipboard ventilation systems to include recirc systems, supply systems, exhaust systems, toxic gas damper, and unit heaters. ACCCIT also conducts routine maintenance and repairs to unit heaters, and toxic gas dampers. The intern will develop a good understanding of the following ACCCIT systems (recirc systems, supply systems, exhaust systems, toxic gas damper, and unit heaters.): Familiarization with basic inspection and overhaul. Planning and scheduling of required documents and tools needed for repairs. Documenting conditions found and discrepancies repaired in applicable work packages. Mission Technologies will benefit from the military background of the SkillBridge intern's marine engineering knowledge and experience specific to Army Watercraft and considers the SkillBridge internship an overall positive experience. SkillBridge Intern will be eligible for Secret Clearance. SkillBridge Intern will be available during business hours of the contract supported for meetings and training. Essential Job Responsibilities

Week 1:
In processing, Introductions/ ship familiarization layout and evacuation procedures. Week 2:
Introduction to the various safety aspects for HII / Mission Technologies and required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) needed for the job. Week 3:
Intro to basic assessment prior to starting a task to find discrepancies. Week 4:
Tools and their uses utilized within ACCCIT. Week 5:
What paperwork is needed to start work on each recirc system, supply system, exhaust system, toxic gas damper, and unit heater. How to fill out work packages in accordance with company procedure to capture all work and tests completed. Week 6:
Understanding how components function and the effects they have on recirc systems, supply systems, exhaust systems, toxic gas damper, and unit heaters. Week 7:
Historical problems presented, and solutions designed, fabricated, and tested to solve the problems on recirculation systems, supply systems, exhaust systems, toxic gas damper, and unit heaters. Week 8:
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on recirc systems, supply systems, exhaust systems, toxic gas damper, and unit heaters. per the schedule under the supervision of senior leadership and document daily work. Week 9:
Familiarization with the process when a problem or discrepancy on the recirc systems, supply systems, exhaust systems, toxic gas damper, and unit heaters is identified and how to properly repair and document work. Week 10:
Special Evolutions rigging, testing of recirc systems, supply systems, exhaust systems, toxic gas damper, and unit heaters. Week 11:
Interfacing with the shipyard, government representatives and ships force. Week 12:
Engage with HII PM and team for each of the ACCCIT systems performance and evaluation feedback. Minimum Qualifications
Active-Duty Military ONLY within final 180 days of active-duty service. Applications accepted within final 12 months of active-duty service. Education and Experience dependent on Program of Instruction. 4 years' experience with mechanical tools and shipboard repairs.
