As an Industrial Scientist specializing in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), you'll play a critical role in our global innovation network by delivering high-impact analytical insights that drive product development, process optimization, and scientific discovery. This is a 15-month, full-time assignment based in our Allentown, PA research center where you'll collaborate with experts across divisions, apply your deep technical knowledge, and help shape the future of material and life sciences innovation. What You'll Do In this role, you will: Apply one-dimensional (1D) and two-dimensional (2D) NMR techniques to characterize formulated products and newly synthesized molecules Develop 1D and 2D NMR methods for structural elucidation and mixture analysis Maintain and troubleshoot NMR instrumentation Leverage data generated by complementary techniques (GC-MS, LC-MS, FTIR) in collaboration with team members to enhance and support NMR interpretation Contribute to operating other analytical instrumentation in the lab such as GC, HPLC, GPC, and MS as needed Collaborate with internal teams across Evonik's business lines and global R&D community to provide analytical insights that inform scientific and technical decisions Collaborate with global Evonik NMR colleagues (in Germany and China) to support research and development, method transfer, and troubleshooting Uphold EH&S standards, knowledge protection protocols, and lab safety culture Contribute to broader team operations, including inventory, equipment oversight, and continuous process improvement initiatives What We're Looking For We're seeking a scientist with deep technical expertise, a collaborative spirit, and a proactive mindset. The ideal candidate will bring: A Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or a related field Candidates with a Ph.D. should have 02 years of relevant industry experience. Candidates with a Master's degree and at least 3 years of industrial experience in instrumental analytics will also be considered. Extensive hands-on experience in NMR spectroscopy, including maintenance, troubleshooting, instrument operation, method development, and spectral interpretation Demonstrated proficiency or understanding of chromatographic and mass spectrometry analysis techniques such as GC, HPLC, GPC, and mass spectrometry Familiarity with a broader range of analytical techniques (e.g., ICP-OES, titration, particle characterization, thermal analysis) is beneficial Expertise in organic or polymer chemistry, enabling effective interpretation of NMR data in support of Evonik's advanced materials and specialty chemical innovations Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across global, multidisciplinary teams Ability to collaborate with colleagues to ensure projects are delivered on time and address scientific questions A track record of delivering high-quality results, supported by publications, presentations, projects, or technical documentation Proficiency in English, both written and oral Your Career Path And Local Living
