Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Planner devises plans and programs for routine preventative maintenance and scheduled turnaround events at the plant. Additionally, the Maintenance Planner utilizes planning and scheduling methods to ensure the most effective and least disruptive maintenance possible. Responsibilities also include ensuring the Maintenance Team has the appropriate inventory of parts and materials to efficiently address all equipment downtime and work requests. This position will work closely with technicians, engineers, operations, and managers to establish a schedule of proactive maintenance activities during appropriate downtime. Some non-routine activities may require a supervisor's advance approval, but routine decisions within the general scope of the role may be made independently. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Understand the job well enough to describe what needs to be accomplished, estimate labor hours, tools, and resources needed to complete different work orders. Prepare preventative maintenance plans and schedules that are coordinated with the organization's maintenance goals. Constantly adjust schedules to account for emergency work. Act as the primary liaison person between maintenance and operations. Lead communication between maintenance and other internal beneficiaries of maintenance work to ensure that everyone receives timely, efficient, and quality service. Coordinate planned downtimes to reduce mean time between failures and minimize interference with production schedules. Minimize the number of interruptions once work begins. Accurately define and estimate required work requests and maintain a consistent tracking system for work orders. Develop, inspect, and survey procedures to ensure an effective preventative maintenance system. Uses the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for tracking and planning maintenance. Monitors spare parts inventory to ensure availability of required parts. Assist shift supervisors with researching specialty and/or discontinued items. Establish and track key performance indicators (KPI). Maintain an optimal stock of spare parts and material. Maintain an accurate count of all parts in inventory and ensure SOMAX is accurate. Receive parts and equipment when they arrive and put items in an accurate location. Communicate with shift supervisor any defective materials or items needing their attention. Provide any reports needed to the leadership team. Build and maintain professional working relationships with all vendors and contractors, including coordinating onsite visits. Perform other duties as required which are reasonably within scope of this role Basic Qualifications (Education and/or Experience)

Required

High school diploma, or GED equivalent Preferred

Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent relevant work experience Required

Experience with CMMS program. Required

Experience operating a forklift or motorized pallet jack Required

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals written in English Required

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English Required

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measurement using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals Required

Proficiency with all MS Office Applications (Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.) Preferred

Experience in food manufacturing environment Preferred

English/Spanish bilingual Additional Qualifications (Job Skills, Abilities, Knowledge)

Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and compressed air systems Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) and Safe Quality Foods (SQF) Working knowledge of Autonomous Maintenance and Total Productive Maintenance Strong verbal and written communication skills

ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization Physical Demands The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, taste, or smell. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 - 25 pounds, and occasionally more than 50 pounds with assistance from co-worker and/or mechanic devices. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. May require use of equipment in machine shop, small portable equipment, and manual tools. Duties may require occasional operation of a motor vehicle or travel to another state on behalf of the company. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee will be handling items that may be hot. The noise level is usually moderate. Must be available to work overtime, nights, weekends, and Holidays.
