Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is currently seeking a DMSMS Component Engineer 2 or 3 for tactical missile system development and production programs located in Northridge, CA. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Reporting on the Diminishing Manufacturing Source and Material Shortages (DMSMS). Ensure the electrical components that are used in our products and special test equipment are suitable and available for the intended use. Will support engineering and operations in selecting and obtaining electrical components. Ensure component requirements are met across the entire life cycle. Monitoring component availability to ensure components are available to meet production and sustainment needs. Finding alternate sources for components. Establish component standards. Analyze bills of material and develop solutions to resolve issues associated with obsolete and End of Life Components. Write Business Case Analysis for obsolete and end of life components. Facilitate communication and interaction between suppliers and design teams. Member of Material Review Boards and Configuration Control Boards. Basic Qualifications for a DMSMS Component Engineer (Level 2) are: BS and 2+ years of experience, or MS and 0 years of experience in Digital, Analog and Harness designs including evaluation of engineering design concepts. Experience with Diminishing Manufacturing Source and Material Shortages (DMSMS) reporting. Experience using Silicon Expert, IHS (former of Accuris), and GIDEP tools. Experience calculating MTBF (Mean time between failure). Possess technical aptitude and ability to learn and has the technical depth to work in a development, production and product sustainment environments. Ability to work with cross-functional teams and have strong interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships. Ability to obtain a Government DoD Secret security clearance. Basic Qualifications for a DMSMS Component Engineer (Level 3) are: BS and 5+ years of experience, or MS and 3+ years of experience in Digital, Analog and Harness designs including evaluation of engineering design concepts. Experience with Diminishing Manufacturing Source and Material Shortages (DMSMS) reporting. Experience using Silicon Expert, IHS (former of Accuris), and GIDEP tools. Experience calculating MTBF (Mean time between failure). Preferred Qualifications: Current/Active DoD Secret Clearance. Basis of estimate generation experience. Ability to communicate findings to customers and management. Self-starter capable of performing assigned tasks in some direction. Innovated thinker with a demonstrated ability of solving complex problems which require ingenuity and "out of the box" ideas. Experience with selecting parts to meet reliability, corrosion, metal whisker, and safety-related requirements. Familiarity with NAS411 Hazardous Materials Target List Standard Practice.
