Finance Manager
Supervises and directs the financial activities of the hotel, safeguards the assets, and prepares all financial reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and HEI Hotels and Resorts Standards. Essential duties and responsibilities include: performing special financial analysis, providing accurate policy interpretations, actively participating in executive committee and staff meetings, assisting other managers in analyzing financial statements, supporting and complying with property standards and corporate SOP's, correcting deficiencies identified on internal audit reports, maintaining effective cash control systems, reviewing security over assets and auditing inventories, understanding all pertinent leases, contracts, agreements, covenants, and restrictions, and knowledge of city, county, state sales tax laws and laws dealing with innkeepers, liquor, and labor. Additional responsibilities include: scheduling and coordinating the preparation and presentation of the annual operating budget, coordinating all aspects of the capital expenditures budget, controlling the capital expenditure program, completing ROI analysis, completing entries required for preparation of the financial statements, reviewing statements for inaccurate data, informing management of financial problems, keeping management informed of sales and profit attainment, coordinating the property's labor management system, maintaining appropriate standards for accounts receivable, documenting the local credit policy, approving major accounts for credit, conducting credit and write-off meetings, submitting critiques and credit loss reports, reviewing major banquet functions and group accounts, maintaining standard regarding bad debt expenses, fulfilling accounts receivable management responsibilities, completing financial reports and requests from HEI Corporate offices, reconciling account balances, establishing balances in accruals, pre-paid, and other accounts, calculating turn ratios and days available for major asset categories, working with department managers to control inventory balances, complying with company procedures on deferring payments, maintaining and updating job descriptions, complying with corporate and local policies for wages, establishing a cross training program, identifying and attracting management candidates, complying with attendance rules, and performing other job duties as assigned. Qualifications and skills include: a B.S. in Accounting or Hotel Management preferred, 3+ years experience in hotel or hospitality related finance and accounting, analytical approach to problems, regard for detail and accuracy, assertive personality, professional demeanor, effective verbal and written communication skills.
