Linehaul Coordinator

The Linehaul Coordinator is responsible for daily planning and coordination of all loads generated and moving within the line haul network. This will include the coordination of Roadrunner Freight Independent Contractors and all purchased power modes and resources utilized to ensure that the department is meeting and/or exceeding all key performance metrics for the company and Line Haul Operations department. Critical Job Functions: The Line Haul Coordinator is responsible for daily planning and coordination of all loads generated and moving within the line haul network. This will include the coordination of RR Freight Independent Contractors and all purchased power modes and resources utilized to ensure that the department is meeting and/or exceeding all key performance metrics for the company and Line Haul Operations department. Other duties may be assigned as needed. Manage and communicate as necessary with an assigned group of Independent Contractors daily. Assess earnings and potential for assigned Independent Contractors to insure maximum earnings potential. Review issues and challenges with assigned Independent Contractors to ensure proper process and procedures are followed. Review daily load planning tools and associated information to plan and schedule loads while coordinating the correct modes to all loads. Review available loads within designated region assigning the best mode for service while prioritizing our IC fleet of drivers. Utilize pre-planning to book Independent Contractors on future loads based on hours of service to maximize mileage. Communicate load availability to our group of Independent Contractors to identify opportunities and challenges. Discuss regularly with assigned Independent Contractors to improve communication and whereabouts of these resources. Develop and maintain relationships with assigned group of ICs' to further greater utilization. Negotiate rates with outside purchased power on ad hoc basis. Communicate with other Line Haul Coordinators on loads that need coverage. Utilize tools to broadcast loads to the available marketplace. Utilize tools to negotiate best possible rates by lane

internal/external resources. Post IC and PP loads to settlement and make necessary adjustments when needed. Review execution of load plan with the team and make sure plans are followed through daily. Ensure proper hand off and execution of assigned plans or loads to both the service centers and other Line Haul Coordinators. Utilize available reporting to validate the service level of plans and ensure completion timely. Evaluate the operation to promote cost-effective service and make recommendations for improvements. Advise 24/7 Dispatch of delays or issues with IC and PP schedules and re-secure power as needed. Monitor current IC and PP location and status using available tools and resources. Plan the most efficient routes maximizing IC and PP utilization by minimizing empty/out-of-route miles. Interact with customer service and troubleshoot problems to obtain final resolution as needed. Work within the Line Haul Department team to ensure special requests are completed. Provide consistent messaging and communication as it relates to Safety and other areas of need as requested. Responsible for other duties that may be assigned on an ad hoc or permanent basis in conjunction with or in addition to these current responsibilities. Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred; or two to three years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Relies on written and verbal communication. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from terminal manager, employees, customers, and the public. Communicates internally with operations and office staff, and externally with other service centers, sales force, agents, customers, and service providers. Specific industry or position skills. Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. Preferred knowledge of AS/400, McLeod, and Microsoft Office. Experience supervising and managing the selection, training, development, and appraisal of personnel. Average typing, filing and ten key skills. Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Required is exceptional planning and organizational skills; the ability to effectively communicate with people both inside and outside the company; a high degree of responsibility for working with, safeguarding, and controlling highly restricted information, knowledge or important confidences and criterion related to plans, policies, business prospects, finances, etc. Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Ability to prioritize tasks. Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Ability to prioritize, organize, and delegate assignments. Physical Demands and Work Environment: Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, reach/handle items, work with fingers, distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus and talk and hear others in conversations via the phone or in person. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and lift objects up to 20 lbs.

Work Environment:

The noise level is moderate based on general conversation tones, ringing phones and printer operation. Works in well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office/shop environment with adequate ventilation.

Compensation: The estimated compensation for this role is $63,000 to $65,000 per year.
