Job Opportunity at the State of Hawaii
The State of Hawaii is seeking candidates for various positions. The salary range is $4,925 to $6,233 per month (SR-18, Step C to I). This recruitment is with the University of Hawaii, College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources, Oahu County, Waimanalo Research Station. Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors. A continuous recruitment may be closed at any time. Duties Summary
Manages the operations and maintenance of a principal farm or a complex of farms in support of agricultural research; and performs other duties as required. Minimum Qualification Requirements
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements: Legal Authorization to Work:
The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States. General Experience:
One (1) year of work experience in the operation of a farm or related agricultural laboratory or industry which provided exposure to basic agricultural/farm activities. Specialized Experience:
Three (3) years of non-professional or technical work experience performing agricultural activities in situations involving recordation, comparison, evaluation, experimentation and drawing of conclusions from data. Supervisory Experience:
One (1) year of supervisory work experience which included: 1) Planning, Organizing, scheduling and directing the work of others; 2) Assigning and reviewing their work; 3) Advising them on difficult work problems; 4) Training and developing subordinates; and 5) Evaluating their work performance. License:
Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment. Lifting and Carrying:
Applicants must be able to lift and carry items of various weights with or without reasonable accommodation. SELECTIVE CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT:
This position requires that applicants obtain, within six months of the date of hire, 1) a certificate as a Commercial Applicator of Restricted Pesticides - Category 1A AND 2) obtain medical clearance, training and fit-testing to use a respirator.
