NDCS is seeking a highly motivated, forward-thinking leader to serve as Assistant Warden at the Reception and Treatment Center. This role supports the Warden in overseeing day-to-day operations and plays a key leadership role in facility safety, performance, and effective correctional practices. This is a meaningful opportunity to lead with purpose and impact in Nebraska's correctional system. Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise multiple departments, including Business Office, Religion, Laundry, Maintenance, Food Service, Safety and Sanitation, Education, and Custody Monitor and improve performance metrics across all functional areas Ensure proper inmate classification and program completion to support successful reentry Foster open communication and positive relationships with staff, incarcerated individuals, families, and community stakeholders Serve as a leadership role model, promoting systems thinking and forward-looking strategies Requirement/Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and related administrative experience with demonstrated administrative ability and leadership OR Completion of a career development program including work-related experience, training, or college credits equivalent to a bachelor's degree Preferred Qualifications: Correctional management experience, including one year of supervisory responsibility over multiple areas Experience facilitating programs for both staff and incarcerated individuals and/or program development/implementation Training and/or experience in: Emergency Preparedness, Process improvement, and Employee performance management Experience developing budgets, drafting procedures, and ensuring ACA compliance Familiarity with inmate classification and correctional security procedures Completion of formal leadership development training Other: Must have a valid driver's license. Successful completion of background check. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program. Benefits
