FMC
Associate Scientist Position
FMC Agricultural Solutions is seeking an Associate Scientist to support research efforts within the Insecticide Discovery Biology group. This role contributes to the identification and development of novel insecticidal compounds by executing laboratory and greenhouse experiments under the guidance of a Principal Investigator. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on researcher with strong technical skills and an enthusiasm for applied entomology in crop protection. Key Responsibilities: Assist in the design and execution of experiments to evaluate the effects of experimental compounds on target insect pests and crop safety. Set up, run, and maintain bioassays in laboratory, greenhouse, and growth chamber environments. Prepare and apply test materials, including dilution, formulation, and compound handling. Support the upkeep of healthy insect colonies and host plants for ongoing experimental use. Collect, organize, and analyze data using appropriate software tools; summarize findings in technical reports. Present experimental results to project teams and contribute to team discussions. Identify and troubleshoot routine issues with assay protocols or insect colony health. Ensure safe handling of experimental chemicals in compliance with safety guidelines. Required Education & Experience: M.S. in Entomology or related life science discipline; or B.S. with 5+ years of relevant laboratory or greenhouse experience. Familiarity with common crop pests, insect rearing, and bioassay design is preferred. Previous experience with crop protection compounds or pesticide evaluation is a plus but not required. Key Qualifications: Strong foundational skills in laboratory techniques, insect handling, and experimental set-up. Comfort working with chemicals under controlled safety procedures. Interest in applied entomology, pest management, and agricultural research. Good communication skills for data reporting and team collaboration. Critical thinking and observational skills to support troubleshooting and continuous improvement. Proficiency with data entry and willingness to learn new software tools. Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset and eagerness to support group goals.
