Maintenance Mechanic
Copper River Technologies is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to perform a wide variety of skilled tasks across multiple trades at the journeyman level. The role includes the maintenance, installation, and repair of facility systems and structural components, incorporating skills from electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC trades. This position is located at the PWD in Kittery, Maine. Responsibilities (include but are not limited to): Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on buildings, utilities, and industrial systems. Troubleshoot and maintain electrical systems including circuits, panels, alarms, and sensors. Repair and install carpentry structures such as doors, walls, ceilings, and cabinetry. Install and maintain HVAC and mechanical systems such as compressors and cranes. Execute plumbing and pipefitting work, including installation of supply and drainage systems. Read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and schematic drawings. Provide training and guidance to assigned helpers or trainees. Maintain assigned truck inventory and complete required documentation for cost control. Respond to emergency after-hours service calls when designated as on-call duty mechanic. Follow safety regulations and apply practical mathematics relevant to trade work. Receive and execute work orders from Regional Dispatch when assigned. Requirements: Journeyman-level experience across at least two trades: Electrical, Plumbing, Pipefitting, Carpentry, or Industrial Equipment Mechanics. Strong troubleshooting ability and system-level problem-solving. Able to read and apply technical diagrams and building plans. Familiarity with safety standards, electrical codes, and regulatory requirements. Effective communication skills to interface with contractors and regulatory entities. Valid state driver's license. Must be CPR certified or obtain certification as required. Capable of working under general supervision and making independent decisions during repair or emergency situations. Physical & Work Environment: Frequent kneeling, climbing, and working in awkward positions. Must lift and carry up to 40 lbs unaided. Work in indoor/outdoor environments, including extreme weather and poorly ventilated areas. Exposure to noise, dust, odors, and potential safety hazards. Required to wear PPE including gloves, goggles, and earplugs as appropriate.
