Clinical Assistant Professor
Prairie View A&M University Department Of Curriculum And Instruction Proposed Minimum Salary: Commensurate Job Location: Prairie View, Texas Job Type: Faculty The Clinical Assistant Professor, under the general supervision of the Directors of the PVU Teach program, serves as one of the master teachers for the program, who will teach the initial recruitment courses and other courses, assist with curriculum development, supervise field experiences, internships, and the PVU Teach induction program. The Clinical Assistant Professor helps our students to connect theory and practice in a real classroom environment, offering programmatic support and serving on committees. This is a non-tenure-track position. Responsibilities: Teach the two introductory courses and the final clinical teaching course, as well as other courses, which may include field-based experiences. Support students in designing their lessons and in other areas (e.g., recruitment, advising, internships, peer mentors, etc.) Organize and supervise all field experiences for PVU Teach students, including liaising with mentor teachers in our partner school districts. Observe PVU Teach students in their field placement and provide written and verbal feedback. Establish and maintain relationships between PVU Teach and local school districts. Participate in research, other scholarly activities, and professional development. Attend program, departmental, college, and university meetings and trainings, and serve on committees. Required Education and Experience: Masters degree in STEM field, STEM Education field, or related discipline. Five or more years as a secondary classroom teacher or administrator. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of best practices in teacher education/preparation or teacher professional development. Knowledge of best practices in curriculum design, development, and literacy. Proficient in the use of any learning management system (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas, Google Classroom, Moodle, Schoology, etc.). Ability to communicate with people from a wide variety of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Ability to collaborate with others and work effectively in a team environment. Preferred Education and Experience: Doctorate degree 18 graduate SCHs in a STEM discipline. 18 graduate SCHs in education. Ten or more years as a secondary classroom teacher or administrator. Public School Teaching Experience. Higher Education Teaching Experience. Experience supervising pre-service teachers. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of research in teacher education/preparation or teacher professional development. Knowledge of TEA teacher certification requirements. Proficient in the use of a variety of instructional technologies. Ability to research, analyze, and critically review information. Ability to examine, summarize, and effectively present data. Required Certification(s)/Licensure: Initial Teacher Certification in a STEM or STEM-related discipline.
